Brass Brilliance

For festive and celebratory occasions, or unique in-concert performances, Full House offers several brass ensemble combinations.



* Brass Quintet – “Fish on Five”
Two trumpets, French horn, trombone and tuba. This lively group delights audiences in Northern B.C. annually with concerts as an adjunct to sport fishing! Their concert touring includes a joyful Christmas series at the Old Courthouse in Kamloops as well as outdoor presentations in the Okanagan throughout the summer.

*French Horn Quartet - “Coils of Gold”
For concert performances, Coils of Gold has a varied repertoire from Medieval and Renaissance to folk, classical, and popular favourites. These programs are enlivened by historical anecdotes and explanations about the quirkiness of the fickle, but fantastic French horn. The group has also been a unique musical choice for those wanting a regal touch in a wedding ceremony

*Brass Duos and Trios
There can be custom small groupings of brass instruments for public and private events.

Bios

EDMUND HOUSE is principal horn and personnel manager of the Okanagan Symphony, principal horn with the Kamloops Symphony, and hornist with the Okanagan University College Woodwind Quintet. He plays freelance horn with the Vancouver, Victoria, and Spokane Symphonies, was horn instructor at Courtenay Youth Music Camp, Vancouver Island, and in summer 2004, played a 4-week Rachmaninoff Festival, with Orquesta Sinfonica de San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He is also active with the Horns-A-Plenty Festival.

SUSAN WHYTE, a graduate of UBC School of Music, performs with the Okanagan and Kamloops Symphonies, plays and serves on the board of the Horns-A-Plenty Festival in Salmon Arm, and has soloed with the Salmon Arm Community Band. She sings with Aura Chamber choir as a soprano, and is a board member and the treasurer of the Shuswap Community Music Academy.

ELIZABETH WOCKS (left) performs with the Kamloops Symphony at the Shawnigan Lakes Chamber Music Festival and with the Okanagan Symphony on horn and keyboards. She also performs with the Horns-A-Plenty Summer Horn Festival in Salmon Arm and serves as music librarian for both Coils of Gold, and Horns-A-Plenty. Elizabeth has participated in numerous musicals and is in great demand as a piano accompanist with Okanagan Festival Singers Choir, the Okanagan University College Choir, and Celebration Singers. She also teaches piano at the Kelowna Community Music School.

DENNIS COLPITTS (left) performs as second horn and Pops conductor with the Okanagan Symphony. He has also played with the Kamloops Symphony and conducts the Horns-A-Plenty Festival of Horns. Dennis teaches band, choir, and English at Constable Neil Bruce Middle School. He conducts the orchestra at Trinity Baptist Church in Kelowna and sings in the choir there as well as with the Encore Singers. He is skilled in arranging pieces for Coils of Gold and Horns-A-Plenty.
